WLA Schools: Fostering the Pre-K through High School Relationship

WLA Schools was developed to emphasize the relationship between our Lutheran Elementary Schools and Winnebago Lutheran Academy. The essential tie between these schools is the Christ-centered education that is offered at all of our Christian Sunday Schools, pre-schools, child care centers, elementary schools, and our high school.

This pre-K – 12 relationship allows our association to provide a solid educational system for all our youth. This educational association has fifteen Lutheran elementary schools, spread out over a 50 mile radius from Fond du Lac and WLA. This area extends from St. Matthew’s, Iron Ridge to the south; St. John’s, Montello to the west; Martin Luther, Oshkosh to the north, and St. Paul’s, Town Forest to the east. The states of Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio and Florida are also represented. During the 2011-12 school year, we currently have 10 students from South Korea, 12 students from China, 3 students from Germany, and one student each from Mexico and Denmark.

The goal of WLA Schools is to build a cooperative association of teachers, administrations, students, families, and local communities. This connection with our families and their communities will provide a stronger avenue for sharing and offering a Christ-centered education.

WLA Schools exists to not only bring awareness of Christian secondary education but also grade school and pre-school education and child care to Fond du Lac and the local communities in which these schools are located.

5th Graders Visit the WLA Campus

Take yourself back to your grade school years…. As a child, the anticipation of going to high school was an exciting time; something that you could not wait for. How and when do families decide where their children will attend high school? What influences a family’s decision? Is it the location, the curriculum, the size of the school, or is it the basketball coach? Last year, WLA began a program inviting 5th graders from our association grade schools, along with public school 5th graders, to spend a morning with us. Winnebago Lutheran Academy hopes that this special morning will aid in the families decision making.

So far WLA students, staff and faculty have welcomed 5th grade students (and a few 6th, 7th & 8th graders) from St. John’s, Montello, Peace, Green Lake, St. John’s, Princeton, Redeemer, Fond du Lac and St. Paul’s, North Fond du Lac. Each student was paired up with one of our high school students. They followed their WLA mentor through their normal schedule; to every class, to chapel, to lunch, even to their locker. What a blessing to see all of the excited faces! Winnebago Lutheran Academy looks forward to getting to know the future students and families that will, God willing, make up the class of 2017!

Waucousta Lutheran Grade School

The schools mission: To glorify God by growing in the Word, enabling us to reach, preach, teach, and share Christ's saving truth with all people.

Waucousta Lutheran's staff of three has eighty years of experience. When asked to comment on school atmosphere in one word, many parents simply respond "family." In the last dozen years, this little school has produced four valedictorians or salutatorians in area high schools, which we credit to students motivated to serve their Lord through Christ-centered education.

WLGS offers grades PK-8. PreK is offered M-W-F from 8:30-11:30. Parents make any arrangements for rides to and from school. K4 is combined with Kindergarten, which meets five days a week from 8:30-3:10. The students meet in a bright, airy classroom in our historic school building where some of their parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents once attended classes.

WLGS also offers band lessons, volleyball, basketball, and softball to its students, along with opportunities to glorify God with group singing, small group singing, and solos in worship settings. Our field trips are educational and fun-filled exercises in parents, students, and staff working together.

Faith Lutheran School

The school's mission: Compelled by Christ’s love, the members of Faith Lutheran Congregation serve the Lord by sharing the gospel, gathering the lost, and strengthening believers.

Faith is in the last stages of WELSSA Accreditation and hope to use the process and findings to help improve our program of Christian education.

Faith has made many updates in technology over the years and our classrooms are well equipped to serve the students in a wide range of ways.

Faith has an experienced staff that seeks to carry out the mission of Faith congregation to the best of their ability.

FLS offers soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball, and cheerleading. Faith also participates in the WLA Track Day and Cross Country events.

Faith Lutheran School also teams with WLA feeder programs in football, cheerleading & the WLA band program.

Piano lessons are offered during the school day and after school by private contractors.

Each year FLS performs an 8th grade play and a lower or upper grade play.
